Enforcement on ESOS non-compliance – participants given more time – 12 October 2015

The Environment Agency have outlined their position on penalties for non-compliance, allowing participant’s more time to complete their audits – contact us today if you need support on your ESOS requirements.

Although there is no extension to the deadline date the Environment Agency have confirmed that providing an organisation has engaged a Lead Assessor and begun the assessment and informed the EA that a late notification will happen by the 5th December then no action will occur until after the 29th January 2016. This effectively does give an extension but this is officially a period of leniency only
Giving until 30 June 2016 to achieve ISO 50001 certification as a form of compliance
A focus on bringing bodies into compliance using enforcement notices where necessary (normally allowing up to 3 months for organisations to remedy the outstanding compliance actions)
